WK2 Practice A: Pottermore

Hi Transmedia Fan's

For this Tuesday’s game I played Pottermore. As a fan of the books and the movies I figured it would be a good fit. This game is definitely for the fans. It has some well put together min game, like the potions class and dueling club. You can follow the path of Harry Potter and the game will give a brief explanation of that part of the story. This path of game play also has additional new content from the author J. K. Rowling. The Quizzes you take to decide what type of wand you get and what house you are separated into are well put thought out. Even if you know the books the answers are obscure enough that the outcome can’t easily be manipulated. But again these features are in designed with the Potter fan in mind. The casual player might seem them as peculiarly in depth.
The game play is unlike the earlier games we played in that you don’t have an avatar. It’s more like the old RPG text based games. The mini games break away from that but there is no walking around the Hogwarts campus interacting with other players. The game does allow for player interaction but you need to seek it out more. There are lots of message boards and the structure for “house” companionship.
